A unique first edition of "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone" has fetched an impressive £27,500, and the seller shares a special connection to the story.

This particular copy was gifted to him by his father in 1997, who was astonished to discover the protagonist shared his son's name.

The hardback edition, part of the limited initial print of 500 copies, was characterized by the seller as a moment filled with emotion and enchantment.

Ultimately, the book was sold to a private collector at auction.

The seller, Harry Potter, hails from Waterlooville in Hampshire and was only eight years old when J.K. Rowling’s iconic series debuted.

Now 33, he and his family opted to part with the treasured book in memory of his father, David, who passed away from cancer in 2017.

His sister, Katie Sign, reminisced about the joyful moment their father came home with the book, excitedly exclaiming, “You’ll never believe what I’ve got!”

Initially puzzled by the coincidence of having a book with their brother's name, the family soon found themselves captivated by the enchanting tale that unfolded within its pages.

Auctioneer Charles Hanson described the event as "very emotional and magical," highlighting the special nature of the sale.

He expressed pride in selling a piece of Harry Potter's legacy, stating, "The provenance is unique – it's an honor to sell Harry Potter's Harry Potter."

The original owner, Mr. Potter, shared his experiences since the book's release, revealing that he often has to prove his identity.

"People simply don't believe me. A referee once threatened to give me a red card for claiming my name was Harry Potter," he recounted.

He also mentioned how his wife, Philippa, initially doubted his name when they met on a vacation in Greece.
